Too Much Bad News

I now have a love/hate relationship with the news and television.

I love the following:

  • The routine of watching TV in a time of uncertainty
  • News about people being kind
  • Stories of patients who are recovering
  • Cute kids and animal videos

I hate the following:

  • Stories about hoarding and gun purchases
  • Politicians arguing while people are suffering
  • That it is supposed to be MLB’s planned opening day but there are no games or other sporting events on the news
  • Stories of how the virus is quickly spreading
  • How people are lined up for tests and assistance but there is not enough of anything to help them
  • When they tell us who has passed away
  • That our country was unprepared for a pandemic

Sometimes you put on a familiar television show to relax a bit and the next thing you know the news breaks in, and the stress kicks up a notch before you have even realized that your show is no longer on anymore.

Sad times. Looking forward to getting a hug. Whenever that is.

What do I do when I stay home all day?

  • Washing my hands
  • Making phone calls
  • Journaling
  • Taking classes online
  • Answering e-mails
  • Reading
  • Walking my friend’s dogs Lucy and Margo while being 6’ away from her
  • Walking (alone or with dogs)and taking photos
  • Eating too many bagels for breakfast
  • Adding to my grocery list which gets very long
  • Thinking about what I am going to do when this is resolved
  • Horse chores/Grooming a shedding horse
  • Watching too much news
  • Learning to deposit checks with my phone
  • Learning to use Zoom for conference calls and zooming friends
  • Doing Zoom yoga with my mom
  • Ordering things on-line
  • Brushing my horse who is shedding
  • Cleaning my apartment
  • Throwing out all of my old makeup and cleaning my makeup brushes
  • Deciding when is the right time to go out for groceries again
  • Watching the Osprey Cam of a nest in Oyster Bay on YouTube
  • Telling my mom what I am doing to make sure she answers me
  • Thinking and worrying
  • Listening to online events or watching Netflix
  • Praying for sick friends and those who have passed away
